Engraving on the jewel
- The obverse (front) is comprised of circles, interlaced triangles, scrolls and images
- The double-sided nature of the jewel is said to represent the two-fold nature of man; the spiritual and material.
- Like other R.A. jewels, the interlaced triangles form a six-pointed star and at its centre is the sun in a triangle and is regarded as an emblem of the Deity over the compasses and globe.
- They are enclosed within two concentric circles, the inner denoting the Deity and his omnipresence.
- While the outer represents eternity
- Within the circles is the inscription “Si Talia Jungere Possis Sit Tibi Scire Satis”
- Translated from Latin means “If thou canst comprehend these things, thou knowest enough ”
- ( “if you can understand what follows you know enough”
- The inscriptions on the two interlaced triangles as well as the direction of the triangle have meaning as well
- The triangle with the apex pointing up is the spiritual triangle.
- The inscriptions are in English, Greek and Latin and read
- We Have Found, and in Greek and Latin Eyphkamen, Invenimus”. Translated means “We have found it”
- Reverse side
- The Latin within the two concentric circles says
- Deo, Regi, Fratribus; Honor, Fidelitas, Benevolentia
- To God, honour, To the King, fidelity, To the Brethren, love.
- This is a version of a quotation found in the First Epistle of St. Peter, Chapter 2, and Verse 17: “Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the King.”
- The inscription on the interlaced triangles
- “Concord, Truth, Peace” pointing upwards as characteristics of the divine
- The second triangle contains the words “Wisdom, Strength, Beauty”
- Are the three pillars that support a lodge
- On the bottom scrolling is the word “ Exalted”
- XXX is where you engrave your date of Exaltation ( R.A.M degree)
